Why We Started
For me, matcha has always been more than just a drink. I’ve always loved the quiet ritual of making it — the whisking, the vibrant green color, and the rich, layered flavor. It’s a small moment of calm in the day.
But over the past few years, matcha has become increasingly expensive. Cafés charge more, and even buying good matcha powder started to feel like a small luxury. I wanted to find matcha that keeps the smoothness and depth that makes it special, while still being affordable enough to enjoy every day. That search eventually became korii.
Finding the Right Matcha
Tea has always been part of my family’s life. With years of experience working with Taiwanese high-mountain tea, I began exploring matcha more seriously — tasting hundreds of matcha powders, visiting factories, and studying growing and production methods.
Eventually, We found a tea farm in Zhejiang using locally grown tea cultivars and professional techniques developed in Japan. The result is matcha with natural umami, gentle nuttiness, a creamy texture, and a smooth finish. Each cultivar brings its own subtle character and layered flavor.
How korii Came to Life
korii is built on a simple idea: good matcha should feel easy to enjoy. Our small green bird reflects that spirit — natural and joyful, like the small rituals that brighten everyday moments.
To keep the matcha fresh, we seal it first in a protective foil pouch before placing it in the tin with an additional seal. It’s a small detail shaped by our family’s years of experience working with tea, so the matcha reaches you with its best flavor intact.
